Sophia graduated from Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy in 2012. She entered the accelerated program after completing her Kinesiology degree at York University in 2011. Her experience working in a hospital setting and a massage clinic has taught her to work in a multidisciplinary environment with a multi-dimensional approach. Through her practice she has honed her massage skills and style of massage, differentiating her from other therapists. Alongside her practice, Sophia teaches at Sutherland-Chan School. Her interests in teaching students lie in musculoskeletal impairments and disorders, therapeutic exercise, massage techniques and her favourite, clinical supervision.
Sophia’s approach is a mix of deep, specific and gentle work. She listens to the tissue’s response while treating and works within a safe tolerance. Her treatments may also include a variety of stretches and dynamic techniques to address fluidity and ease of ones’ movement.
Her treatment philosophy is based on the synergy between structure and function, and movement. Her treatment plans are tailored to each individual client and are established on their goals, and their personal daily activities.
Sophia is committed to helping her clients become aware of what’s happening with their body. She places emphasis on education; to help empower her clients to take control of their own health.
